I have a bunch of this stock...less risky than picking my own microcaps, but still highly volatile!

I do see in that presentation, that their "sample successes" show that they often get out way too early. (ex: Aurelian went up almost 80x pre-split price and PNP was happy with 2.8x)

I have a bunch of warrants. Think Dines likes Pinetree also.

Hay Jim,

I have for some time now been following PNP. not for it's price movement but just for the company's their buying into. Although I don't agree with having such a huge diverse portfolio, I do see where they are going with the company. PNP plainly spells it out in the Aug. 30 news release...

"Pinetree Capital Announces TSX Approval of Normal Course Issuer Bid"

"PNP... announces that it has received the approval of the Toronto Stock Exchange (the "TSX") in respect of its previously announced normal course issuer bid (the "Bid") to purchase, through the facilities of the TSX and on other published markets, up to 5,000,000 of its common shares, representing approximately 3.7% of the 135,709,653 common shares outstanding as at August 27, 2010."

And...

"The Bid will commence on September 1, 2010 and end on August 31, 2011. Purchases of common shares under the Bid will be made at market prices and otherwise in accordance with the rules of the TSX. All common shares purchased under the Bid will be cancelled."

This will up the price of the shares and make them more attractive to fund managers.

"the purchase of its shares under the Bid may represent an attractive investment for the company and a desirable use of funds to contribute to enhancing shareholder value."

From my own personal experience, ALL the investment firms tend to invest in holdings that ether return dividends (mostly) and/or have high volume, (easy way out). Fearful, go with the flow.

"Pinetree has not purchased any of its common shares during the previous twelve months."

Just wondering if you have PNP in you're portfolio?

Keep up the great postings Jim...

God Bless,

Rob.

"Just wondering if you have PNP in you're portfolio?"

I don't own any of the common stock of PNP.TO, but I do own the A and B warrants:

A warrants: Exercise price C$6.50, expire 10/23/12.

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=PNP-WTA.TO

B warrants: Exercise price C$3.50, expire 7/11/13.

Dines has Pinetree listed as a buy, under uranium stocks.

All of the uranium stocks Dines had listed as buys are starting up-trends.

Can't say they're sitting around; they keep buying stuff:

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Pinetree-Capital-Ltd-Acquires-ccn-3533085590.html?x=0&.v=1

Looks like the high was around C$14.98. I remember it in the low 20's, but I think that was before a split or two.

Pinetree Capital, Ltd:
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=PNP.TO&ql=0

I think two warrants of Pinetree still look interesting:

PNP-WTA.TO, exercise price C$6.50, expiration date, 10/23/12:
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=pnp-wta.to&ql=1

PNP-WTB.TO, exercise price C$3.50, expiration date, 7/11/13:
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=pnp-wtb.to&ql=1

Disclaimer: I own both.
