Does anybody happen to know what will happen to SLW if the base metal mines they work with SHUT DOWN?

It's an interesting stock, but they rely on other guys to keep theie mines running

My portfolio would be in a lot orse shape if I had not been trading SLW. I don't know about "Owning" shares, but it sure is easy to trade because of liquidity.

I have tried to call them several times, and again today. But it is hard to get anyone with any data on the phone.

IR is in shambles with many companies. I'll tell you this, if you all can convince Don at PCM.v to give me an IR contract, I will get the stock to 10-20c. Even if I have to be on the road constantly to get the story in front of people with the bucks and patience to see it through.

CALL DON ALREADY!!!

PCM.v can make great money at tdays gold&silver prices. Like shelby used to say, "I don't want base metals getting in the way of my silver". No

From what I've researched, Silver Wheaton seems to be the largest pure silver company in the world, so I don't think halting base metals would effect them much, considering that they aren't relying on by-product silver like many other companies. I wouldn't worry about it.

Sam. note that SLW is not a miner...they have offtake agreements with base metal mines, who may (or may not) be in financial trouble (BTW, I have since found that most of their "incoming silver" are from mines that have been open for many years and seem quite stable)

PostSubject: Wrong Wording   SLW Silver Wheaton Icon_minitimeMon Dec 01, 2008 2:45 pm

Sorry, I used the wrong wording. They acquire mines around the world, and yes, some have been in production for years. It looks like a great company to me after listening to Jim Puplava's interview with Peter Barnes on the Financial Sense News Hour annual Gold show. I really like Jim's interview with Yumana and SilverCorp., and Silver Standard. I'm into the low cash cost production for best weathering the storm.
